James L. Dyer, 62, of Craig, died at 6:15 a.m. March 14, 2009, in Summit County.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. May 16, 2009, at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton, Ill.
The Rev. Marvin Claassen will officiate. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Wyanet, Ill., at a later date.
James was born Dec. 26, 1946, in Princeton, Ill., the son of the Rev. Glenn Robert Dyer and Ruth DeEtta (Morris) Dyer.
He married Gloria Diane Sass, who died April 5, 1996.
He is survived by daughters Margo Dyer, of Fairbury, Ill., and Tamara (Daniel) Abertson, of Lanark, Ill.; sons Robert (Christi) Dyer, of Blackstone, and James G. Dyer, of Metropolis, Ill.; brother Marvin Glenn Dyer, of Princeton, Ill.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother George R. Dyer and sister Glennda Ruth Dyer.
James served in the Army and National Guard. He worked as a machinist for Magnum Metals in Craig.
Memorials can be made to the South East Livingston County Ambulance Service Building Fund in Fairbury, Ill.
