Diana Jeanne Meyer, of Craig, died April 16, 2009, at her home after a valiant, 1 ½ year battle with cancer.
Diana was born Feb. 4, 1950, in Durango, to Neil and Gloria (Roberts) Townsend. She was raised and attended school in Durango, graduating from Durango High in 1968.
After high school, Diana worked in various health fields in southwest Colorado before moving to Craig, in 1984. Diana married Gary Meyer, of Craig, in 1986. They made their home on Yampa Avenue, where she enjoyed her flower gardens, cooking, baking and her Mickey Mouse collection.
Diana's final occupation was deli manager at the Craig Safeway. She is a member of the Church of Destiny and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxillary.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Meyer, of Craig; sons Gabriel Martinez, of Denver; Eric (Pam) Young, of Craig; daughter Mariliegh (Jonathan) Hale, of Grand Junction; and grandchildren Brittany, Jason and Isaac.
She is preceded in death by her mother "Jeanne" and stepfather Vernon "Pop" Jones.
A memorial service was April 21, 2009, at Grant Mortuary with Parrish Terry officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were "All Diana's family and her many friends."
A memorial service will take place early summer for Diana, at Green Mount Cemetery in Durango. Interment of her cremains will take place there.
Memorial donations may be made to the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice or the Moffat County Cancer Society in care of Grant Mortuary.
