Mary Margaret (Kline) Flemming 1915 - 2009
Mary Kline Fleming, of Cedaredge, died Jan. 17, 2009, at Horizon Care Center in Eckert.
Fleming was born Mary Margaret Kline on July 16, 1915, to Ernest S. and Elizabeth Herod Kline at her grandparents' home near Craig.
She lived with her family on the Kline Ranch near Cedar Mountain and attended East Cedar Mountain School, where her father taught. She graduated from Craig High School in 1933.
While recovering from a long illness, she did child care, light housekeeping, dressmaking and light nursing in Craig and Fort Collins. She taught Sunday School, sang in the church choirs and directed a high school church program.
Mary moved to Denver in 1944, where she became a registered nurse from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing. She earned a bachelor's degree in nursing at Denver University and a master's degree in nursing education from the University of Colorado.
She did bedside nursing, office nursing and school nursing, was Women's Dormitory Director at Rockmont College, and taught nursing at St. Joseph's Hospital and Presbyterian Medical Center Schools of Nursing, the work she enjoyed the most.
In 1972, Mary Kline married Aubrey Fleming, of Wheatridge. He died in 1996.
In 1974, the Flemings moved to New Mexico, where Mrs. Fleming became a Public Health Nurse and an RN consultant for the local nursing home. She and her husband sang duets in the church they attended and the nursing home.
They moved to Cedaredge in 1980 and continued to sing for God's glory until 1993.
Fleming is survived by Shirley Brandt, her longtime best friend and sister in Christ; sisters, Jessie Easterly, of Grand Junction, Edith Euler, of Thornton, and Jeanne (Larmon) Loucks, of Broomfield; brothers, Earl ( Beulah) Kline, of Craig, and David (Idella) Kline, of Taylors, S.C., 18 nephews and nieces and many grand nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, her parents, a sister (Elizabeth Kline Acuff) a niece and three nephews preceded her in death.
Memorial services are pending at First Baptist Church in Cedaredge. Burial has taken place at Cedaredge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may give to Gideon's International or the Youth Ministry of First Baptist Church of Cedaredge, where she was an active member.
