Henry William (Bill) Ditges Sr., of Craig, died Dec. 2, 2009 of kidney failure.
He was 84.
He was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Kinsley, Kan., the son of Henry Herman and Appolonia Maria Degan Ditges.
He served as a Merchant Marine during World War II and was later the owner of Whispering Pine Lodge.
On Feb. 1, 1951, Henry married Virginia May Lampe in Offerly, Kan.
A memorial service took place Dec. 5, 2009 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Craig. He will be buried at a future date in Offerly, Kan.
Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, and his brothers, sisters and parents.
He is survived by his daughters, Katherine (Jeff) Grove, and Denise (Mark) Woolsey; sons Michael (Anita) Ditges, Kenneth (Diana) Ditges and Bill (Misty) Ditges Jr.; and 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
