Kristine Jo Mace
February 12, 1952 - December 6, 2009
Kristine Jo (Gitter-Freshman) Mace, of Laughlin, Nev., died Dec. 6, 2009. She was 57.
She was born on Feb. 12, 1952, in Fort Collins.
She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado. She then returned to receive her master’s in education. She began her career teaching in Timnath, Colo., and then took her first teaching position in Maybell. She moved to Lyman and Dinosaur, and spent the past 23 years at Bennet Elementary School in Laughlin.
She loved teaching, dance, plays, music and crafts. She loved her family and friends.
Kristine is survived by daughter Shae Gitter and her father Bill, of Las Vegas; mother Shirley Mace and her companion Bob Perkins, of Saratoga; sister Sandra (Kent) Holland-Cheese, of Parker; brother Darren (Penny) Holland, of Jamestown, N.D.; sisters Leslie and Lori, of California; aunts Lucy and June, of Fort Collins; uncle Gus, of Fort Collins; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by grandparents Mary and Joe Cromer, and Marguerite and Mark Mace; her father Allen W. Mace; aunts, Libby, Jo Helen and Mogie; and uncles Elmo and Jack.
Services are yet to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made for Shae Ellen Gitter for her to complete her education. Donations may be sent on her behalf to Silver State Schools Credit Union, 4221 Mcleod Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89121, for Shae Ellen Gitter, in memory of Kristy.
