Max S. Sims
Max S. Sims, 80, of North Augusta, S.C., husband of the late Rose Sims and son of the late Selma and Cornelia Stewart Sims, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at his home.
Born in Fitzgerald, Ga., he had re-established residence in North Augusta, S.C., 12 years ago.
A 32-degree Mason, Max was a lifetime member of the Acacia Lodge No. 315, A.F.M., North Augusta, S.C., and the Benevolent Order of Elks in Craig. Max had a love for photography, and prior to his health declining, he enjoyed golf, woodworking, his chickens and flying squirrels named BooBoo and Sweet Pea.
Family members include his children Michael Arnold, of North Augusta, S.C.; Cheri Jai Sims Vavrina (Bob), of Durham, N.C.; Randy Arnold (Lisa), of Evans, Ga.; Weldon S. Sims (Karin), of San Diego, Calif.; Terri Arnold Rodgers (Al), of North Augusta, S.C.; and Duane B. Sims, of Newport Beach, Calif.; sister Lou Sims Turk, of Waycross, Ga.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
At his request, Max was cremated, and he and his late wife, Rose, will have a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, Ga., in the early part of 2010 with Masonic rites accorded.
