Thomas A. Bengston, of Craig, died Aug. 24, 2008, at The Sandrock Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was 74.
Tom was born June 25, 1934, in Menominee, Mich., the son of Andrew and Frances (Dessart) Bengston. He moved with his family to Milwaukee, Wis., when he was 8 years old and graduated from high school there.
Tom joined the U.S. Marines and served for three years, with 15 months of that time in Korea.
On Oct. 10, 1953, Tom married Marilyn J. Pray in Milwaukee. They made their home in Milwaukee, where Tom worked for the telephone company in various positions through the years, retiring as a supervisor after 38 years with the company. He and his wife moved to Craig in 1992.
Tom enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, NRA and Bears Ears Sportsman Club.
Tom is survived by his wife, Marilyn Bengston, of Craig; his daughter, Laura (Douglas) Gall, of Cedarburg, Wis.; his sons, Thomas A. (Ginny) Bengston Jr., of Sun Valley, Nev., and Michael (Sue) Bengston, of Craig; his grandchildren, David and Andrew Gall and Loren and Myiah Bengston; his sister, Judy Mae Wamser, of Mukwonago, Wis.; and his brother, Corky (Judy Ann) Bengston, of Germantown, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Carl Wamser.
Cremation has taken place, and no services will be held. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of Grant Mortuary, 621 Yampa Ave., Craig, CO 81625.
