Margaret Dyar Ellsworth, 79, of Cedaredge, died Oct. 1, 2008, at home.
Margaret was born Sept. 14, 1929, in Denver to Owen and Mina Belle (Zirkle) Dyar.
She spent her childhood in Craig, graduating from Craig High School in 1948. She then attended the University of Wyoming for one year and then went to St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Denver, receiving her degree as a registered nurse.
On Sept. 27, 1953, Margaret married her heart's companion, Philip Ellsworth in Craig.
Margaret had lived in Cedaredge for the past 17 years, coming from Bethany, Okla. She lived in Bethany for 31 years.
A member of the Unitarian Church of Grand Junction, she also was a member of Surface Creek Valley Historical Society, Delta County League of Women Voters, Delta Doves and the Cedaredge Literary Club.
Besides loving her family and friends, her interests were preserving the history of the Surface Creek Valley and enjoying the beauty that surrounded her.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Philip Ellsworth, of Cedaredge; one son, Philip Dyar Ellsworth (Rebecca), of Casper, Wyo.; two daughters, Ruth Ellsworth Carter (Bill), of Austin, Texas, and Carolyn Belinda Ellsworth, of Cedaredge; one brother, William O. Dyar, of Grand Junction; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
