William Elmer Mai 1916 - 2008

Longtime Phippsburg resident William Mai passed away in Denver on Nov. 3, 2008. He was 92.
He was born Oct. 5, 1916, and was a veteran of World War II, during which he served in the Army Medical Corps.
He later retired from the D&RGW Railroad and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, a 50-plus year member of the Transportation Communications Union, and a member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, his parents, grandson Leed Fisher, and two sisters and in-laws. He is survived by his son, Rod, and daughter-in-law, Robbie, of Texas, his daughter, Sheila, of Denver, three granddaughters and their spouses, two great-grandchildren, his dear sister, Martha, and brother, Fred, of Kansas, numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
A funeral was held Nov. 8, 2008, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Oak Creek, with burial at the Yampa Cemetery.
