Lawrence Clifford 'Tator' Jordan 2008 - 1922
Lawrence Clifford “Tator” Jordan died Feb. 25, 2008, at his home in Baggs, Wyo. He was 85 years old.
Lawrence was born Nov. 25, 1922, in Phillips County, Colo., to Jacob and Anna Dorthea (Dassow) Jordan.
He was the youngest of seven children and attended school until the eighth grade. He then followed his father to the Timerlake area, north of Craig, in 1940 and worked farming the land.
He filed his own homestead in 1942. He was well-known for raising potatoes, which he sold throughout the Little Snake River and Craig area for most of his life. He also worked as a ranch hand for numerous families. He was a hard working and honest man.
Later in his life, he drove a school bus for the Baggs school district for several years.
Lawrence is survived by his niece Mary Lou Rigel of Evans; nephews Charles Jordan in Sterling; Robert Hobbs of New Raymer; Gerald Hobbs of Bailey; close friend Mark McStay and his family of Craig.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Anna, his sister Ethel and his brothers Harry, Earl, Paul and Ralph also known as Art.
Graveside services were Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at the Baggs Cemetery with Paul Prestrud officiating.
