Tony Lee Wood, age 60, of Eldon, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at his home. He was born in Osawatomie, Kan., on September 5, 1947, a son of the late James Lee and Hazel (Murray) Wood. On September 6, 1997, in Eldon, he was married to Phyllis Polly, who survives at the home.
Tony moved to Colorado in 1957 and was in the Army from 1969 to 1971. He worked as a coal miner until 1996 when he then moved to Missouri. He continued to enjoy elk hunting in Colorado at the Villard Ranch. Tony also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Others who survive him include son, Kristian L. Wood, of Oak Harbor, Wash.; daughter, TyLynn Wood of Price, Utah; step-sons, Jason Walker, of Craig, and Ryan Evans of Jefferson City; granddaughters, Chanda, Brittney and Hannah Walker; sister, Sharen Croan of Paola, Kan., and brother, Scott Wood of Parker, Kan.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Rev. Trevor Hayes will officiate. Interment with military honors provided by the Miller County VFW Post 2442 will be in Blue Springs Cemetery near Eldon.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
