Jack E. Kelly died suddenly Dec. 22, 2007, at his cabin north of Hayden. He was 62.
Jack was born Nov. 11, 1945, in Hayden, the son of Jesse and Wilma (Parfrey) Kelly. He was raised and attended school in Craig, graduating from Moffat County High School in 1963. Following high school, Jack served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam conflict.
Jack married Bonnie Johnson on Oct. 8, 1971, in Steamboat Springs and to this union a son Nathan was born. Jack and Bonnie were later divorced. Jack worked for the Moffat County Road and Bridge Department as a grader supervisor until his recent retirement. He most recently has been working as manager of special projects for the Craig Airport and working part time at the Yampa Valley Golf Course.
Jack loved to be at his cabin on Quaker Mountain and enjoyed talking with his many friends, riding snow machines, playing golf, trap shooting, riding horses and watching NASCAR.
Jack is survived by his son, Nathan Kelly of Denver; special friend Tammy Boutwell, of Craig; former spouse Bonnie Kelly, of Denver; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Wilma Kelly.
Memorial services were Dec. 29, 2007, at Grant Mortuary Chapel with Chuck Cobb officiating. Following the services and per Jack's request, a reception in his honor was held at the OP Bar and Grill.
Memorial donations may be made to the Yampa Valley Golf Course in care of Grant Mortuary.
