Shirley Ann Chadd, of Craig, died Dec. 24, 2007, at The Memorial Hospital in Craig following a lengthy illness. She was 68.
Chadd was born Feb. 17, 1939, in Ridgway the daughter of Charles and Agnes (Perkins) Powell. She was raised in Naturita and attended school in Naturita and Ridgway.
Shirley married Kenneth E. Chadd in 1956, in Aztec, N.M., and to this union twin boys were born. Kenneth and Shirley were later divorced.
She lived in Montrose and Grand Junction prior to moving to Craig in the early 1970s. Shirley was a Certified Nurse's Assistant and was employed at Valley View Manor Nursing Home in Craig. She enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, doing crafts and was known as someone who never threw away anything.
Shirley is survived by her sons Albert and his wife Kay Chadd of Craig, and Alvin Chadd of Craig; grandchildren Travis and his wife Amy Chadd, Levi and his wife Sherry Chadd, Nick Chadd, Tiffany and her husband Josh Daschle, Suzy and her husband Will Weathers, Pat and Eric Chadd; great-grandchildren, Avery Chadd, Faith Weathers, Donovan and Nathaniel Daschle, Kaylen Chadd, Alexis Main, Andrea Angelo, Tracy and Steven Weathers, David and Kiana Weathers; sisters Frances Major of Grand Junction, and Sharon Garrison of Montrose; and brother Kenneth Powell of Grand Junction.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Agnes Powell.
Cremation has taken place, and the family will hold services at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sandrock Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in care of Grant Mortuary.
