Charles Turner
Charles “Chuck” Turner, formerly of Hayden, recently died in Las Vegas. Services are pending.
Chuck was born Sept. 21, 1943 in Steamboat Springs. He was the oldest son of Boe and Marie Turner. The son of a coalminer and descendent of prominent Routt County pioneer families, he grew up in Mount Harris and attended grade school there. He later attended Hayden High School.
He was an outstanding scholar and athlete. After graduation, he worked for Peabody Coal Company as a draftsman in Kayenta, Ariz. He also worked for Energy Fuel at Twentymile, near Hayden.
Chuck served in the National Guard.
Survivors who mourn his passing are son Shawn Turner and family, of West Point, Utah; daughter Joni Turner and family, of Maricopa, Ariz.; mother Marie Turner, of Craig, and sister Janice Ward, of Savery, Wyo.
He was preceded in death by his father, “Boe,” brother Randy John and sister Frances Dee.
