Daniel Lee Garrett, of Craig, died Aug. 17, 2008, at The Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, following a lengthy illness. He was 59.
Daniel was born July 2, 1949, in Canon City, the son of Lee and Wanda (Ketchum) Garrett. He was raised and attended school in Florence.
Daniel married Eva M. Hunt on May 23, 1969, in Canon City, and shortly thereafter joined the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam and Germany. After his discharge from the Army, he and his wife lived in Canon City until moving to Craig in 1977. Daniel was a coalminer and worked at ColoWyo Coal until his retirement in April 2008.
He enjoyed fishing, camping and being with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Garrett of Craig; sons, Michael and Tracey (Jaime) Garrett, both of Craig; grandchildren, Andrew and Aidan; father, Lee Garrett, of Florence; sisters, Ginger Clark, of Evergreen and Becky ( Jay) McKinney, of Florence; brothers, Jack (Linda) Garrett, of Lakewood and Vern (Kathy) Garrett, of Gillette, Wyo.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Garrett.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life was Sunday, Aug. 24, at his home in Craig.
