Chris Walsh, 75, of Craig, died at 11:28 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at the VA Medical Center in Grand Junction.
He was the first born to Guy and Charlotte Virginia Walsh in Canton, Ill.
Before retirement, Chris worked on many large projects in Colorado as a heavy equipment operator. He worked on Silver Jack dam, Jo Right dam, Interstate 70 from Glenwood to Frisco and Ridgeway dam. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a member of the Elks Club, Operators Union No. 9, VFW, National Rifle Association and the American Legion. He moved his family to Colorado in 1970.
Chris is survived by his three children, Chris Walsh of Craig, Calvin Walsh of Clifton and Caryn Bourque of Littleton; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; five sisters, Ann Kidder of Craig, Jane Jackson of Moline, Ill., Shirley Yerbic of Canton, Ill., Ruth Walsh of Chicago, and Lois Smith of Genesco, Ill.; and his brother, Jack Walsh, of Farmington, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, along with his sister, Sharon Bishop.
Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Grant Mortuary in Craig.
The family has set up a memorial fund for veterans in lieu of flowers at First Bank of the Rockies.
