Freda "Nana" Joan Howell, 72, of Craig, died Aug. 3, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. She was a loving and devoted, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
Freda was born Feb. 16, 1936, to William Frederick Most and Helen Marie (Gamble) Most at the family homestead in Ogallala, Neb. She attended the Keith County schools there.
Freda married James Dunlap Sr., and they had four children. In 1978, she married James Richard Howell, with whom she shared the rest of her life.
She loved working at her restaurants, The Gunnison Cafe and Mom's Cactus Grill. Her life was her family and friends.
Freda is survived by her husband, James Howell, of Craig; children, Kerry Kelly and husband Ted of Hamilton, James Dunlap Jr. and wife Julie of Arvada, and Kelly Camilletti and husband Gene of Craig; and seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carma Fenske; granddaughter, Marcy Fenske; and great-grandson, Ty Dade.
Services will be at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at Grant Mortuary Chapel. Following the service, a reception will be held at Gene and Kelly Camilletti's home at 1049 Rangely Way, in Craig.
