1940 - May 11, 2008
John Willard (Hastings) Dixon, a loving father, husband, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend was born Nov. 30, 1940, and went on his journey with his Lord Jesus Christ on May 11, 2008.
Some may have known him as a Moffat County deputy sheriff or driver's license examiner.
Also John was known for his own delivery service, truck driving, or for being at coffee shops telling jokes and stories. He was always friendly, kind, courteous and helpful to all he came into contact with. His talents included playing the accordion, harmonica and guitar. He also enjoyed drawing pictures. He liked to dance, start water fights and always wanted to be a clown. John's graveside services were military honors May 16, 2008, at Rugged Cross Chapel.
John loved his family. He married Dora Jean Moon (known as Dora Watson) in 1960. Their children are Deddy Joanne (Dusty) and Erick Anthony (Tracy). They resided in Craig from 1968 to 1979. In 1989 with a union of hearts and souls, he married Diane, adding to his family Justin and Shanna. He had 10 grandchildren who loved and adored him. His family looks forward to meeting him again to go fishing, camping, rock hunting, on walks in the park, to the movies, or on drives to see anything. They enjoyed our visits with John on the phone, e-mail and letters. "He has our hearts," family members said.
Those who knew him will always remember his blue eyes, bigger than life presence, tenderness and mercy.
His heart was bigger than the universe. His last days on earth were filled with laughter and love. To all whom he touched, may his memory fill you with love and a smile as you also filled his.
