Harriet Elaine Pankey

August 30, 1935 - April 19, 2008

Harriet Elaine Pankey, 72, of Rock Springs, Wyo., died April 19, 2008, at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County.
A longtime resident of Rock Springs, and former resident of Colorado, Mrs. Pankey had been in ill health for the past several years.
She was born Aug. 30, 1935, in Rock Springs, the daughter of the late Charles Vines and Marjorie E. Wilde.
Mrs. Pankey attended school in Rock Springs. She attended the Wright Beauty College in Rock Springs and real estate school through which she became a licensed Realtor.
She married George Pankey in Rock Springs on Jan. 5, 1957.
Most recently, Mrs. Pankey was employed as a manager for Holiday Inn for many years. Earlier she had owned and operated Cut and Curl Beauty Salon for many years. She worked for Tim Ryan Realty as a real estate agent for one year. Mrs. Pankey had been employed by Mountain Bell and retired as a supervisor.
Her interests included spending time with her family, sewing, crocheting, baking, gardening, reading, watching classic movies, playing slots and bingo.
She volunteered at Western Wyoming Community College for the Right To Read Program and also sponsored a little girl from Brazil.
Survivors include her husband, George Pankey of Rock Springs; daughter Marjorie Mackey of Parker and her fiance Richard McQueen of Rock Springs; son James Pankey of Washington; sisters Marilyn McElhannon and her husband Mac and Pat Niemiec and her husband Tom all of LaBarge, Wyo.; granddaughter Tiffany Glasco and husband George of Wheat Ridge; great-grandson Joshua Glasco; brother-in-law James Pankey and wife of Salt Lake City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles E. Hines, and nephews Stephen Harper and Michael Harper.
A funeral is at 1 p.m. April 25, 2008, at the L.D.S. Stake Center, 2055 Edgar St., Rock Springs. Interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.
The family of Harriet E. Pankey respectfully suggests that donations in her memory be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 332 North Lauderdale Street, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
