Aletha Grace McCall Charles, 79, died April 12, 2008 in Canon City.
Grace was born Dec. 9, 1928 in Wiley, to Olen W. and Clara Victoria (Horton) McCall. She moved to Canon City at the age of 10, and graduated from Canon City High School.
After graduation, she worked as an operator for the telephone company. Grace married Kenneth F. Charles on Nov. 28, 1948 in Canon City. As her children got older, she went to work for Gene Crawford in his accounting office, then she worked in the Fremont County Clerk and Recorder’s office.
She and Kenneth co-owned the Palace Drug Store, where she also worked as the bookkeeper. She retired after the store was sold. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Shadow Hills Golf Club.
Grace is survived by her husband Kenneth, of Canon City; children, Steve (Renetta) Charles, of Hemet, Calif., and Sandy (Randy) Kloos of Craig; grandchildren, Jared Kloos, of Denver, and Stephanie Kloos, of Craig; sister-in-law, Barbara (Roland) Brown; brother-in-law, Kenneth Rose; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Eugene, John Kyle, Elton, and L.D. McCall; and sisters, Wilma Rose, Josephine Foster, Doris Magnus and Rosella McCall.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the Wilson Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Scott Simpson officiating.
Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Rocky Mountain North Chapter, at 4104 Outlook Blvd., Bldg. B, Pueblo, 81008. Arrangements handled through Wilson Funeral Home.
