Donald R. Corson Sr. (Donnie), a longtime Snake River resident, died Saturday, March 29, 2008, at his home south of Baggs, Wyo., with his wife at his side. He was 76 years old.
Don was born Sept. 30, 1931, in Rawlins, Wyo., to John Andrew (Jack) and Addie Louise (Humphrey) Corson. He was raised and attended school in Baggs. After high school, Donnie attended the University of Wyoming for a year.
He married Kathleen A. Jordon on Jan. 7, 1956, in Rawlins, Wyo. They moved to Alaska, where Donnie had been living and working in road construction, and it was there that their son Jack was born.
They moved back to Rawlins, Wyo., in October 1956 and spent the next 10 years of their married life there. Their sons, Donald and Bruce, were born while they were living in Rawlins. They moved to the Little Snake River Valley in 1966 and have resided there since.
After moving to Baggs, Don worked for the Wyoming Department of Transportation, took care of gas wells and operated his own ranch. In 1980, with his partner, he founded C&B Gravel business and has worked in that endeavor until his death.
Donnie enjoyed his work, basketball and supervising his boys. He was a member of the Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Corson, of Baggs, Wyo.; sons Jack (Celia) Corson, of Baggs and Toltec, Wyo., and Donald (Roberta) Corson, Baggs, Wyo.; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brother Richard "Pete" Corson (Charlotte), of Baggs, Wyo., and their children and grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Bruce, granddaughter Teresa and several half-brothers and sisters.
Cremation has taken place, and memorial services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2008, at The Little Snake River School in Baggs with Pastor Paul Prestrud officiating.
A rosary was held April 3 at the Lady of the Sage Catholic Church in Baggs.
