W. Dean Dorland, 73, of Lima, died Sept. 1, 2007 at Barrett Hospital and Healthcare.
Dorland was born in Independence, Mo., on March 4, 1934 to Loren and Pearl (Hawk) Dorland. He grew up in the Missouri and Kansas areas. He worked in the oil fields throughout the West for at least 35 years and drilled water wells in Montana until his retirement.
Dorland was married to Patsy Adamsen, and on Aug. 18, they celebrated their 24th anniversary. The couple called Lima home for the past seven years.
Four brothers have preceded Dean in death: Lawrence, Loren, Fred and Paul.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy; sisters Bessy Dolan, of Odessa, Mo., and Anna (Chester) Pfaff, of Nickerson, Kan.; brothers, Vernon (Betty), of Oscaloosa, Iowa, and Donald (Wanda), of Craig; stepchildren Victor (Kathy) Matoon, of Riverton, Wyo.; Dana (Jay) Springer, of Seeley Lake, David (Coleen) Matoon, of Shelby, Valerie Matoon, of Lima; nine grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services took place Friday, Sept. 7 at the Community Church in Lima with a potluck reception following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the planned Assisted Living Center in Lima.
