James L. Simpson was born on Oct. 3, 1953, in Hayden to James Arthur and Dorothy (Larson) Simpson.
He was 2 years old when the family moved to Craig, where Jim was raised and attended school. He graduated from Moffat County High School in 1972. Jim entered the US Navy in March of 1974 and served until July of 1977.
Jim worked as a truck driver his entire working life and was employed at various places including a lumber company in Salt Lake City, a trucking company in Rawlins, Wyo. and for Werner Enterprises in Omaha, Neb.
Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, doing puzzles, building model trucks and using his model train.
Jim died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at The Memorial Hospital in Craig.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Webb of Craig; sister, Mary (Stan) Martinez of Craig; brothers Pat (Kathy) Simpson of Craig, Brian (Suzanne) Simpson of Hamilton, and Dean (Susan) Webb of Casper, Wyo.
Numerous nieces and nephews and many friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father James Arthur Simpson, a sister Kathy Combs, his stepfather William Webb, his grandparents George and Josephine Simpson and Marvin and Mamie Larson.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept.12, 2007, at the Grant Mortuary Chapel in Craig with Sandy Beran officiating. Interment followed in the Craig Cemetery with Military Honors by VFW Post No. 4265.
