William N. Schneider was born Nov. 27, 1946, in Craig to Charles E. and Marie (Nelson) Schneider. He was raised on Morapos Creek and graduated from Moffat County High School.
Bill was a member of the Colorado National Guard and during his life worked at various jobs including ranching, oil field work and at a grain elevator. He retired from the Colorado Department of Transportation, where he was a maintenance worker in the Hayden area.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking and fishing, and in recent years he spent much time searching for rare coins with his metal detector.
Bill died Aug. 24, 2007, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction.
He is survived by his mother, Marie Schneider, of Craig; sister, Alice Haughey, of Craig; and twin brother, Philip Schneider, of Craig.
Numerous other relatives also survive.
Following cremation, memorial services were held Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, at the Grant Mortuary Chapel with Mervin Johnson officiating. "Amazing Grace," "How Great Thou Art" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" were special musical numbers played by Ann Carr on the keyboard. His cremains were interred in the Craig Cemetery.
