July 28, 1937 - October 21, 2007
Patricia Ann (Babcock) Bittler, 70, of Maybell, died Oct. 21, 2007. She was born July 28, 1937 in Berthoud to Roy and Dorothy (Craft) Babcock. She was the middle daughter of six children.
She wed Gene Bittler on Oct. 1, 1954 in Taos, N.M. They filled their home with three children: Gene, Debbie and Dennis.
Pat loved her family and friends. She had a talent for baking and cooking. In the early years of marriage, she cooked for the hay crew in Walden and later, when they moved to Maybell, she baked pies for the local cafes. Just as quickly as a 20-course meal could be set on the table for you, she could clear the table and be ready for a game of cards. Her family and friends will have fond memories of time spent around her community.
She also loved to sew, can and garden. Her love for gardening was evident by the beautiful flowerbeds that adorned their yard each year. She was the hostess for numerous "eventful" family reunions. She loved to make costumes for the annual Maybell play.
Pat met several traumatic health obstacles with a strong will and a fighting spirit.
Pat is survived by her husband, Gene, of Maybell; children Dennis (Katie), of Colorado Springs, Debbie (Doug), of Hobbs, N.M.; five grandchildren, Samantha Miller, of Merkel, Texas, Shellie Davidson, of Abilene, Texas, Syndi Dominguez, of Hobbs, N.M., Kristi Bittler, of Spring Creek, Nev., and Joshua Bittler, of Colorado Springs. She is also survived by her sister, Phyllis (Babcock) and Clifford Cox, of Longmont, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Dorothy Babcock, son Gene Bittler, Jr., grandson John Wayne Bittler, brothers Eugene, Ronald, Keith and Rodney Babcock.
Services will take place at 2 p.m. Oct. 27, 2007 at the Maybell Community Church in Maybell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Maybell School Fundraiser.
She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
