Mary Dora Mundon was born Oct. 25, 1933, in Penasco, N.M., to Nicacio and Matilda (Gonzales) Lopez. Dora lived in Penasco until she was five years old, when her family moved to Craig. Dora attended school in Craig and graduated from Moffat County High School.
Dora married Raymond D. Mundon on May 30, 1980, in Craig, and they made their home in Craig until three years ago, when they moved to Fruita. Dora was an employee in a laundry and nursing homes.
She also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and enjoyed sewing, fishing and hunting.
She died Sept. 29, 2007, at her home in Fruita following a lengthy illness.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Mundon, of Fruita; daughters Shana (Bob) Marrs, of Chehalis, Wash., and Tana (Bruce) Curry, of Fruita; sons Brad Atwood, of Fruita, and Nick (Connie) Atwood, of Grand Junction; brothers Norman Lopez, of Craig, Nick Lopez, of Palisade, Roland Lopez, of Grand Junction, and Jerry Lopez, of Aurora; a sister, Lugie Arellano, of Penasco, N.M., 10 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Virginia, Mary and Pemie.
Funeral services were Oct. 5, 2007, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Craig with Father John Farley officiating. The organist was Elaine DeuPree, and the soloist was Celeste Sanchez.
Special selections were "Wind Beneath My Wings," and "Go Rest High on That Mountain."
Pallbearers were Nick, Roland and Norman Lopez, Matthew Simmons, Charles Peterson and Brandon Murray. Honorary pallbearers were Jason Sparks and Jerry Lopez.
Interment was in the Craig Cemetery.
