Longtime South Routt resident Leonard Leslie Snowden died Sept. 29, 2007, at his residence in Ada, Okla. He was 76.
He was born July 10, 1931, in New Raymer to Everett L. and Edith Mae Workman Snowden.
He married Martharene Berry in November 1952 in Steamboat Springs.
Mr. Snowden graduated from Steamboat Springs High School. Mr. Snowden spent the majority of his life as a rancher. He was a longtime member of the Colorado Cattlemen's Association and was involved with the local chapters of FFA and 4-H.
Mr. Snowden accepted Christ in 1963. He was very instrumental in organizing the building of the Yampa First Baptist Church, where he served many years as a deacon.
He was also on the executive board of the Colorado Baptist General Convention.
Mr. Snowden moved to the Ada, Okla., area in 2004 from Missouri and was a current member of Trinity Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Leota Louise Snowden.
Mr. Snowden is survived by his wife, Martha Snowden of the home; three sons, Bill Snowden and his wife, Fran, of Kingwood, Texas; Bob Snowden and his wife, Lea, of Stratford, Okla.; and Chris Snowden and his wife, Shellye, of Ada, Okla.; two brothers, Leo Snowden of Craig and Lawrence Snowden of Grand Junction; seven grandchildren, Karley Solis and Leslie Copper of Cleveland, Ohio, Tanner, Travis and Tyler Snowden of Stratford, Okla.; and Madison and Macie Snowden of Ada, Okla.; and two great grandchildren, David and Brady Cooper of Cleveland, Ohio.
Services were held at the First Baptist Church in Yampa with Rev. Bob Parker officiating with Rev. Bob Swift assisting.
