Elsie W. Evans died July 5, 2007, at Sandrock Ridge Care & Rehab in Craig. She was 81. Her last hours were spent surrounded by family.
Elsie was born October 6, 1925 in Sanford, Fla., to James Caudill and Margaret Byrd. Elsie was the first of four sisters - Kay Ellsworth, Flo Easley and Nettie Chapman. She was the mother of one son, George A. Johnson, of Dimmitt, Texas, and the wife of 36 years to Joe W. Evans, of Baggs, Wyo.
She loved ranch life and living on the Little Snake River.
She enjoyed arrowhead hunting, camping with her mother and sisters in Browns Park and was a legend at catching fish. In her later years, she moved to Craig to live with her granddaughter. She enjoyed gardening, caring for her flock of chickens and feeding wild birds.
No services will take place per her request.
Elsie is survived by her sister, Nettie Chapman, her son, George Johnson, and her granddaughter, Soni Johnson.
Elsie will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Evans, her mother Margaret Byrd, her father James Caudill and her two sisters, Flo Easley and Kay Ellsworth.
