Before his retirement, he moved back to Craig as the assistant superintendent where he helped to get a bond election passed in order to build the present Moffat County High School.
After Barbara's death in 1983, Les married Della Fiske. They moved to Grand Junction in 1987 and Les became involved with the Redlands Lions Club, worked at the Grand Junction Visitor Center, played a lot of golf, fished in the Gunnison area, traveled with RV groups and enjoyed time with his family and friends. He was passionately involved with the Lion's Club Colorado Kidsight Project, an eye screening program for preschool and kindergarten children in Mesa County.
Les is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Bertha: his first wife, Barbara: two brothers, Robert and Wayne, and his daughter, Kelly.
He is survived by his wife, Della Fiske-Turner; son Craig (Kathy) of Greeley; son Chris (Vera) of Craig; a brother, Larry (Connie) of Elko, Nev.; three grandsons (Kyle, Mark and Scott) and one granddaughter (Simone).
