No one knows what exactly will be inside a nearly 70-year-old time capsule behind the cornerstone of the old hospital.

But we’ll find out on Wednesday, and there is sure to be some oohs and aahs.

An opening ceremony will start at 2 p.m. on June 14 at the corner of 8th and Tucker Streets on the east side of Memorial Regional Health Medical Clinic.

The 68 year-old building was Craig’s first public hospital. It will be demolished once a new clinic is constructed.

Items removed during the ceremony will be used to create a display at The Memorial Hospital located on Hospital Loop road.

A flag with 48 stars might be inside the time capsule, promoting Memorial Regional Health to open it on June 14 — Flag Day.

We asked residents of Craig, what do you think is in the time capsule?

“Pictures taken during the construction of the hospital. Possibly old hospital gear,” said Brett Sheehan.

“An Empire-Courier newspaper,” said Beverly Chapman.

“Medical stuff. Things that you used back in the day to help people,” said Graysen Kolong.

“Letters and an old style, metal and glass syringe that they would have used to use to give shots,” said Virginia Parfrey.

“Medicine. It’s probably going to save the world,” said Skylar Manning.
