Weather Watch: Warmer, drier week expected for Craig

Craig Daily Press Staff Report

After a week with snow blowing in at various intervals, it looks to be calming down for Northwest Colorado for the next several days.

Craig received as much as 8 inches of snow early Sunday alone, according to the National Weather Service. This comes on top of activity in the preceding days, as parts of the town and Moffat County were hit harder by the developments.

However, this week should be different.

A 20 percent chance of precipitation Monday leads into an altogether warmer and drier week with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low 30s expected Tuesday through Saturday.

The term "polar vortex" has been popularized lately as cold sweeps the nation, but Paul Frisbie, an NWS meteorologist out of Grand Junction, said there is "nothing abnormal" about the weather occurrence.

"It's what brings most of our winter storms," he said.

Another storm moving into Northwest Colorado is unlikely within the next week, but it's certainly not impossible, Frisbie said.

"It can't be ruled out," he said.
