Victory propels MCHS girls basketball team to WSL crown

The Bulldogs keep the Sailors at a safe distance in the second half, and win, 59-50. The victory gives MCHS a piece of the Western Slope League championship.

The Bulldogs are one quarter away from claiming a piece of the WSL championship. MCHS extends its lead by a point in third quarter and is up 43-34 against Steamboat.

Juniors Annie Sadvar and Melissa Camilletti scored four points each in the third.
Solid defense propels the Bulldogs in the second quarter, as they extend their lead to 29-21 at halftime. The Sailors used two 3-pointers to cut the Bulldogs’ lead to two with about two minutes to go in the quarter.
MCHS pulled away from there, keeping the Sailors at arm’s reach.
Roberts scored seven points in the quarter, giving her 13 for the night. Sophomore Kori Finneman added four more for MCHS.
A back-and-forth first quarter ends with the Bulldogs up, 12-9. Senior Lauren Roberts scored 6 points in the quarter, and fellow senior Nike Cleverly added 4.
The Moffat County High School girls varsity basketball team needs one more win to claim a share of the Western Slope League title. The Bulldogs are in action tonight against longtime rival Steamboat Springs at MCHS.
