The American Legion Post 62 and the Craig Elks Lodge are in desperate need of help with bingo on Saturdays.

The bingo games are every two weeks with the next one scheduled for July 30.

Call Mel Shockley or Jake Garcia at 824-3625 if you would like to participate.

Thank you in advance.

Also, it's that time of year again.

Please remit your dues for the upcoming year for the American Legion, and to those in arrears, please catch up.

Winner named in Legion rifle raffle

Jeremy Chambers won the VTR 15 rifle raffled by American Legion Post 62.

Congratulations, Jeremy.

A new rifle raffle is in the works, and as soon as information becomes available, I will let everyone know where to get tickets.

Highway cleanup slated for Monday

American Legion Post 62 will conduct a highway cleanup at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Members and volunteers will meet at the barbecue restaurant at the east end of town.

Please give us a hand with the effort, as we are also trying to help Craig look nice.

New veterans van close to becoming reality

I have good news about the new van for veterans. It is a 2006 van with low mileage, and it's in good shape.

I am starting the paperwork to get it, and hopefully it will be in our hands in two to three weeks. It has all the bells and whistles and even an automatic side door opener.

Thanks, Fourth of July parade participants

The Fourth of July parade was a huge success. Thanks to all who participated and all who attended the barbecue afterward.

See, we do live in the best town in America.

Petition in need of signatures

I have a petition for reinstatement of podiatry service in Craig. I will try to get the petitions circulated around town for veterans to sign.

This petition spells out the costs of veterans going to Grand Junction as opposed to the doctor coming here. I have a petition on my desk, and if you are passing by, please stop in and sign it.

To quell any rumors, the veterans' clinic is not closing.
