Northwest Colorado Wildkat All-Star Cheerleaders

In 1884 Thomas Peebler gathered six men to lead a yell on the sidelines in front of the Princeton University student body; thus began the history of cheerleading.

Since that date, cheerleading has changed drastically. With the introduction of gymnastics, dance and stunts into routines, cheerleading has become a popular sport in the United States among men and women.

The Northwest Colorado Wildkats All-Star cheerleading squad was founded in Craig on March 1, 1999. The Wildkats is a youth All-Star cheerleading team with 27 members, the youngest team member is 5 years old. It is the only All-Star Cheerleading squad in Northwest Colorado.

All-Star Cheerleading adds a new twist to the conventional cheerleading programs. All Star Cheerleaders range in school grade ages from kindergarten to college seniors. They do not

cheer for a specific organized school sports program, but practice to compete at cheerleading competitions.

The Northwest Colorado Wildkat All-Star Cheerleaders have two competition squads, the PeeWee Squad, for fourth-graders and younger, is called the Kittens, and the Youth Squad, for sixth-graders and younger, is the Kats.
