Two services groups in Craig gave teachers, who are back in school preparing for the first day of class, the gift of school supplies on Wednesday morning.

“We are giving free school supplies for teachers to supplement what items the school does not supply and that they would have had to purchase on their own,” said Craig Rotary Club President Len Browning.

For a seventh consecutive year, local Rotary has joined forces with Love In the Name of Christ in the Yampa Valley — Love INC. — to handout supplies to Moffat County School District educators the week before school starts for students.

This year the groups spent about $3,000 on classroom basics to help reduce the burden placed on teachers.

“More than that, we are saying thank you and welcome back,” Browning said.
