St. Mark’s welcomes new priest
November 30, 2000
A welcoming reception will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. for the Rev. and Mrs. Bruce Moncrieffat at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 657 Green Street in Craig.
Fr. Moncrieff is the interim vicar of St. Mark’s. He began his duties on Nov. 15.
Once the rector of Calvary Church in Golden for twenty years, Fr. Moncrieff also served in Vail and Greeley, Colo., as well as being interim pastor of congregations in several other states. A Yale graduate, he has been a priest in the Episcopal Church since 1957 and has received advanced degrees from Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Va., and Andover Newton Theological Seminary, Newton, Mass.
He likes to be called Fr. Bruce, which fits well with his snow-white hair. He enjoys preaching the word of God to adults on Sunday mornings. When children are present, Fr. Bruce loves to share his puppet, Charlie Green, while adults eavesdrop.
Bruce and his wife, Elizabeth, will be traveling on weekends from their home in Battlement Mesa to serve the congregation of St. Mark’s. They are enthusiastic about their new ministry in Craig and look forward to meeting and making many friends here.
