Sports Briefs: No league play for Craig BCA Pool League on Sunday, Monday

The Craig BCA Pool League will not host its regular league nights on Sunday or Monday at The Popular Bar in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. League play will continue at 5 p.m. Dec. 5 with Sunday night 8-ball.

Lifeguard training classes start Dec. 7
Registration is open for Craig Parks and Recreation's lifeguard training classes. The sessions are open to all adults and teenagers ages 15 to 50 who are interested in getting certified as a lifeguard.
Participants will be able to work during parks and recreation's many aquatic activities over the winter.
The fee for classes is $75 and the deadline to register is Dec. 7. Parks and rec will host a precourse swim test on this date from 7 to 8 p.m. at the swimming pool of Moffat County High School, 900 Finley Lane. Classes will run through Christmas break.

Elks Lodge to host annual Hoop Shoot Contest
The Elks Lodge of Craig will host the Elks National Free Throw Hoop Shoot Contest at Sandrock Elementary School on Dec. 11. Registration begins at 8 a.m.
The contest is open to all boys and girls ages 8 to 13 with an interest in basketball. The event sees more than three million participants every year, with competition at local, district, state, regional and national levels.
Competitors have the opportunity to progress to the national finals in Springfield, Mass. Champions will be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
