Sports Briefs for Sept. 3, 2011: Memorial shooting event seeking volunteers

The Lorna Farrow Memorial Fun Shoot, taking place Sept. 25 at the Routt County Rifle Club, is looking for volunteers to help on the day of the event.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Event coordinators are looking for volunteers to help with everything from instructional help at the different shooting stages to helping out in the silent auction tent to clean up.

Final motocross races of season set for Sept. 18
The fourth and final motocross race at Thunder Ridge Motorsports Park, located south of Craig, takes place Sept. 18.
Registration is from 7 to 8 a.m. and races begin at 9:30 a.m.
Race registration is $25 per racer per class and racers of all ages are welcome.
Entrance to the park is $10 per person.
Race photos from the previous three races are available by contacting Sharyl Chapman at 826-4142 or email@example.com.
Memberships are available for riders who would like to hone their dirt-biking skills on non-race days.
The end-of-season rate is $50 per person or $75 for a family. Stop by Craig Powersports, Valley Performance or Bank of Colorado for memberships.
The gates will close sometime in October, depending on weather.

Coed volleyball signup deadline Wednesday
The Craig Parks and Recreation fall coed volleyball season begins Sept. 12.
Teams will have the opportunity to register for two different leagues — competitive on Monday nights and semi-competitive on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
The deadline to register is Wednesday.
The fee is $125 per team plus $10 per player.
Registration is on a first come first-serve basis.
