Sports Briefs for April 6, 2011: ‘Where the Hell’s Maybell?’ open for registration

Craig Parks and Recreation's 25th Annual "Where the Hell's Maybell?" bike ride is now accepting registration.

The ride will take place May 21 and registration is free.

There are two departure times — 7 a.m. from Northwest Storage, 4295 W. Highway 40, and 7:30 a.m. from Western Knolls.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary, a free "Where the Hell's Maybell?" shirt will be given out to the first 200 registered riders.

A $6 breakfast, which includes pancakes, bacon, eggs and orange juice, will be available at the end of the ride.

Register for beginner fly-fishing lessons

Craig Parks and Recreation will be hosting a beginner fly-fishing lesson at 6 p.m. May 24 and 5:30 p.m. May 25.

Expert instruction will be given on the basics of knot tying, casting, presentation and what equipment it takes to get started.

The fee for the lesson is $15, which includes an instructional manual and flies.

Summer swimming lesson registration

Registration is now being accepted for summer swimming lessons through Craig Parks and Recreation.

The lessons are for youth 3 to 15 years old. The fee is $35 per swimmer.

The first session is June 6. There is a limit of six participants per class.

Classes will run Monday through Thursday for two weeks.
