Senior Spotlight for Oct. 10, 2011

Mary Jo Brown

Well, frost is on the pumpkins and everywhere else.

When I was a child, I asked my mom one day, why are the windows covered up that way?

She said Jack Frost came last night and painted us some pictures as he went by. I got to where I would look for pictures painted by Jack Frost. Sparkly trees and lawns, windows, car hoods … they were all icy looking.

I learned to appreciate the beauty of the nature of it all.

My mom had a gift of seeing the good in people and things. It’s too bad some people I know find fault with some of the most trivial things in life. They miss out on a lot of joy in living.

Happy birthday to Velma Cole, Clarence Yonkers and Glen Schultz.

Get well/speedy recovery to Theresa Rendon, Clarence Yonkers, Stella Johnson, Jess Stover and John McGrath.

The AARP defensive driving class is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 19 at Sunset Meadows I, 633 Ledford St. For more information, call 824-5123. The sign-up sheet is at Sunset Meadows I.

See you there.
