Ron and Betty Gorbet: ‘Are you people serious?’

First we are told that one of the most docile and timid creatures on this planet has turned vicious and started killing dogs and standing up to people who are chasing them with brooms, and now if you sit in the grass or are in contact with deer droppings, you are going to catch some dreaded disease.
Are you people serious?
After doing some extensive research, we found one undocumented case of Elk droppings making eight children in Evergreen sick with Ecoli.
In the article from the Rocky Mountain News published Nov. 11, 2008, the senior epidemiologist was quoted as saying he didn't know how this happened. But, one likely scenario is that the children's shoes were smeared with elk feces and later at home, they took off their shoes, and then say, ate an apple before washing their hands.
The people of Evergreen did not immediately want to kill or relocate the elk.
Now, the kids wash their hands more often. This was the first time there was a documented case linking the droppings from an elk to a human.
In our research, we found no documented cases of deer feces introducing a disease to humans.
We also requested information from the Centers for Disease Control and Pre-
vention on Chronic Wasting Disease. In this article, it states that several epidemiologic studies provide that, to date, Chronic Wasting Disease has not been transmitted to humans, and that additional routine surveillance has not shown any increase in the incidence of CWD in Colorado or Wyoming.
This so-called deer problem has gotten so out of control that it is actually bordering on stupidity. You have more of a chance of contracting the Hantavirus from our very well known deer mouse than a disease from deer droppings.
Well, there you have it now. We have to kill, trap or relocate all the deer mice.
Get real, people.
