With polls predicting a statistical dead heat in the race for the presidency a group of Moffat County voters plans to open a campaign office for the final push to Election Day.
Frank Moe, Moffat County Republican project manager, announced Thursday by news release the Mitt Romney Victory Center will open its doors Saturday in the meeting rooms of the Hampton Inn and Suites at 377 Cedar Court in Craig.
The office, which will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. beginning Saturday through Election Day, is believed to be the first ever presidential campaign office established in Craig.
"After it was confirmed that the Obama campaign had flown in paid staff from Sacramento, Calif. to canvas Moffat County we decided to up our game even more to ensure we meet our goal of 2,000 plus vote increase over the 2008 Republican presidential results here," said Moe in the release.
Opening the victory center was inspired by Romney's May campaign stop to Craig and the role Colorado will play in Tuesday's election, the release states.
It will serve as the hub for door to door campaign efforts and also feature a phone bank center to reach out to Moffat County voters during the final days of the race.
In addition Romney supporters who do not have a way to get to the polls on Tuesday may also call the victory center to coordinate a ride.
"The presidency of the United States of America is in play with Colorado being the final swing state that can determine the outcome of this election," the release states.
