A count on oil and natural gas rigs, as of Friday, operating in Colorado, Wyoming and the U.S. overall, according to Baker Hughes, Inc., a Houston-based energy consulting company:

• Colorado has 61 rigs online — 1 less than Oct. 5, and 14 less than Oct. 14, 2011.

• Wyoming has 49 rigs online — 1 less than Oct. 5, and 9 less than Oct. 14, 2011.

• The U.S. has 1,835 rigs online — 2 less than Oct. 5, and 188 less than Oct. 14, 2011.

— 1,773 are working on land, 15 in inland waters, and 47 offshore.

— 1,411 are drilling for oil, 422 for natural gas.

— 194 wells are directional, 1,112 are horizontal, and 529 are vertical.

• Crude oil closed up 36 cents from a week ago at $92.07 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

• Colorado Southeast crude oil closed up 25 cents from a week ago at $79.35 a barrel.

• Colorado Western crude oil closed up 25 cents from a week ago at $78.88 a barrel.

• Wyoming Sweet crude oil closed up 36 cents from a week ago at $83.07 a barrel.

• Natural gas closed up 19 cents from a week ago at $3.60 per 10,000 million British thermal units or MMBtu.
