Pizza Hut general manager Ken Prescott putting in extra effort for his customers

Having been a marine, EMT, CNA, manager, mobile DJ and event planner, Ken Prescott has worn many hats.
His most recent is as the new general manager of the Craig Pizza Hut.
Prescott began managing the restaurant at the beginning of November, and customers already have noticed his management style.
"I've been in customer service since I was nine," customer Barbara Jean Sonntag said. " I know what good customer service is and he's fantastic."
Sonntag said every time she and her husband, Frank, go to eat at Pizza Hut they are treated with dignity and respect.
After Frank suffered a stroke his mobility was greatly affected, but Sonntag said Prescott and other crew members come out and help get Frank out of the car and into the restaurant.
Prescott said his work in the neuro trauma unit as a certified nursing assistant helped prepare him to help customers like Frank.
"It's like he's taken my husband and I on personally," Barbara Jean said. "One time they even moved all the tables so we could fit my husband in."
Prescott said he knew Barbara Jean and Frank hadn't been able to come in for a while and when they finally could, he said he wanted to make them feel welcome.
"They're wonderful to be around, Barbara Jean's such a sweetheart," Prescott said. "I can say that about most of our customers. We know our regulars and can anticipate what they need. I also have a great crew."
Sonntag nominated Prescott for the local’s edition she said because often times people don't take the time to recognize others before it's too late. She said life is full of things good and not so good, and it's important to recognize the good aspects.
"His generosity, kindness and customer service is genuine and sincere," Sonntag said.
Prescott said he likes his new role as general manager and enjoys working with guests and customers as well as his crew.
Often times having a younger crew, Prescott said he enjoys the opportunity to teach them work ethic without breaking them, saying he never yells.
His goal as a manager: continuous improvement.
Prescott said the last general manger came from Boulder and was in a hurry to get back there, not making much of a connection with the Craig community.
Having lived in Craig for the last nine years and growing up in Grand Junction, Prescott said he's all about building relationships.
"I'm a firm believer in giving back to the community," Prescott said. "This Pizza Hut's a part of the community and we better act like it."
Sonntag said it's this type of attitude that makes Prescott stand out.
"On a scale of one to ten, he's off the scale," Sonntag said. "He's dynamite."
