Jim Davis’s prize-winning Chevrolet Apache truck has been in his family a long time.
Like about 58 years.
His father was the original owner of the 1959 truck. Davis of Grand Junction inherited it and decided to restore it back to its original condition, right down to the color — robin egg blue and Wimbledon white.
Davis’ Chevrolet truck was a popular draw Saturday among the the vehicles at the Bear River Young Life Car Show, capturing the Best Original prize and the Best of Show trophy.
“It means a lot,” Davis said about winning the top prize. He’s been taking his truck out to car shows about six years now.
“That’s all I got to show, and it’s enough,” Davis chuckled.
Davis admitted he’ll be smiling all the way back to Grand Junction.
