Parrotheads promise lots of ‘PHun’ with Craig’s Art’n the Park’n Lot

Craig Daily Press Staff Report

Young limbo contestants show off their flexibility during the 2014 Art'n the Park'n Lot, hosted by Northwest Colorado Chapter of Parrotheads. This year's event is Sept. 19 and includes arts and crafts, games, live music and more.

You'd better be ready to have fun next Saturday. What's more, you'd better be ready to spell it "PHun."

The PH balance will be off the charts during Sept. 19's annual Art'n the Park'n Lot hosted by Northwest Colorado Chapter of Parrotheads. The gathering of partiers eager for one last warm weather bash includes arts and crafts vendors, food, a beer garden, a silent auction and games for all ages, all while enjoying a considerable lineup of local musicians.

Organizer Beth Gilchrist said the fall favorite will bring back all the elements people have come to love and then some. An extra splash of color will be present with a tie-dye station making its return.

"We've got an artist coming just for that, so if anyone wants to stock up, he's got some really neat products," she said. "I've got a lot of new vendors this year, so that'll be fun."

Besides providing a good time, the flocking of people to the corner of Victory Way and Tucker Street brings in significant "PHunding" for the Parrotheads' work with local students, once collecting about $2,000 per year, a total that's now around $4,000.

"It all either goes to music in the schools or our scholarships," Gilchrist said.

Gilchrist said the occasion is perfect to contribute to the cause, maybe get some shopping done months in advance and just enjoy the weekend.

"Come enjoy the community and camaraderie," she said. "Good music, good food, good PHun."
