New members appointed to TMH Board

Todd Jourgensen, sales manager for Severson Supply & Rental Co., has lived in Craig for more than a decade.
"I've been here for 16 years, and I figured it was about time I gave back to the community in some way," Jourgensen said.
He'll get his chance beginning this month.
On Tuesday, the Moffat County Commission appointed Jourgensen and Tinneal Gerber to four-year terms on The Memorial Hospital Board.
"I think it's great," Jourgensen said of his appointment. "I'm looking forward to it."
Jourgensen replaces Brenda McKey, who served the hospital board for about a decade but did not re-apply for her position.

Gerber is a re-appointment of sorts. The commission appointed her after board member Ron Danner resigned in May 2010. Gerber completed the final months of Danner's term.
McKey said Jourgensen is a worthy replacement.
"I just think he's a great fit," she said. "I think he's going to be an awesome board member, and I know he'll get along really well with everyone on the board.
"He'll have a great new adventure."
First, however, McKey said Jourgensen should prepare for a steep learning curve.
"It takes about two full years before you really know what you're getting into," McKey said of the hospital board.
Gerber agreed that the learning curve for serving TMH is great.
"The past couple of months have been a good opportunity to get my feet wet a little bit, but there's definitely still a lot to learn in the whole hospital realm," she said. "And I'm excited to take on that challenge."
Jennifer Riley, TMH chief of organizational excellence, said hospital officials will do what it takes to get Jourgensen up to speed.
"We have a board member orientation that we go through with new board members," Riley said. "It's similar to what we put our new employees through. It orients them to the building, it orients them to our policies, it orients them to our programs.
"After they go through it, they have a clearer understanding of the organization."
Riley said it takes time to become familiar with board governance and learning about the hospital's budget.
"It takes about a year to feel like you understand everything that's going on," she said. "Every organization has an ebb and flow of information and processes…so it takes a year to have gone through everything that we go through."
Riley said she looks forward to working with Jourgensen.
"He's been a long-time member of the community, and I know that he'll bring a lot of new insight into what we're working toward, and we're looking forward to it," she said.
Riley also thanked McKey for her service.
"She's definitely been a valuable contributor to the board," she said. "She's spent a lot of time and energy helping to move the hospital forward."
