The Moffat County Fairgrounds will be packed with horses this weekend.

As part of the fair, the Open Horse Show takes place with the English division at 4 p.m. Friday and the Western division at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Equine owners and riders are all invited to show what their animals can do in either of these shows, which offer different styles.

Additionally, the working ranch horse jackpot begins at 9 a.m. Sunday for horses and riders to display their talents in cutting cattle, among other ranching activities that blend horse and human.

Organizer Mardi Anson said she expects at least 20 people to compete in the jackpot event, with plenty also taking part in the open shows.

“These get a great turnout, and it lets people get a little more experience before the 4-H shows,” she said.

The halter and performance horse show for 4-H and FFA entrants will saddle up at 8 a.m. Monday, leading up to a full week of fair activities.
