Moffat County Bulldogs name new volleyball coaches
Familiar faces rejoin Moffat County volleyball team
July 22, 2010
Sandy Camilletti is no stranger to Moffat County High School volleyball.
She played four years for the Bulldogs in the late 1980s, and also spent a year working as an assistant coach.
Now, she will take over the lead job. On July 14, MCHS named her head volleyball coach.
Her first order of business as new coach, she said, is to get players excited for the upcoming season.
"I want to build a program that's successful and the girls want to be a part of," Camilletti said.
"I want to build a program where the girls want to spend their summers getting better."

Camilletti, the co-owner of Mountain West Insurance & Financials in Craig, replaces Brianna Braun, who resigned in April.
In 2008, Camilletti was Braun's assistant coach.
The new head coach will be joined by a familiar face on the bench this season.
Former head coach Becky Howlett-Jackson returns to the Bulldogs as an assistant.
Howlett-Jackson was the MCHS head coach from 2002 to 2005.
Camilletti said the two will work well together.
"I think we will see a lot of teamwork, starting with the coaches," she said. "I think we are going to have a different kind of coaching style."
That coaching style will feature influences from both Camilletti and Howlett-Jackson.
"We're going to work together and make decisions together," she said. "(Howlett-Jackson) has a lot of experience and I want to learn from her. It will be a true team effort from the coaching staff."
The Bulldogs are coming off a 9-14 season in 2009, in which the team qualified for the district tournament.
The team lost in the first round to eventual district champion Eagle Valley, before upsetting Battle Mountain.
A tough series against Rock Canyon ended the Bulldogs season.
For the upcoming season, Camilletti said she has goals for everyone on the team.
"As a team, I want the young players to keep improving," she said. "For the varsity team, I think A, we want to win the league, and B, we want to go as far as we can at state."
This year's team will feature four seniors — Kelley Syvertson, Jessica Matthews, Lauren Roberts and Chanda Walker.
MCHS lost 2010 seniors Kelly Edington, Jordan Maneotis, Tasha Romney and Lindsey Yoast.
The team has had open gym sessions three times a week and, in early August, will host a mini-camp.
The team's first game will be Sept. 3 against George Washington High School at the Regis Jesuit Jam Tournament in Aurora.
