With Christmas right around the corner, there are only nine days left to shop for presents, so it's time to get in gear.

I think we're mostly done but definitely need to get a few more things this weekend. Plus, we'll be baking up a storm, cleaning house and just getting organized.

But between final preparations, make time for some holiday fun this weekend.

Santa Claus is coming to town.

Come see him beginning at 2:30 p.m. Friday and have your kiddos 10 and younger bring their letters and tell Santa their Christmas wishes. It's all at the Craig Daily Press office, 466 Yampa Ave.

There are special prizes for the first children to come in, but supplies are limited.

All children who bring their letters in will also have them published in the Christmas Eve edition of the Craig Daily Press. Be sure to include your first name and age.

Call me at 875-1790 if you need to know more.

Mr. Claus will also make one final appearance before Christmas at Centennial Mall, 1111 W. Victory Way, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Call the mall at 824-7011 with any questions.

• Little ones can have some more fun by participating in the third annual Christmas for Kids, an afternoon of holiday activities, from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Wyman Museum, 94350 E. U.S. Highway 40.

Kiddos can make Christmas crafts and ornaments, visit with Santa, take sleigh rides, drink hot cocoa and sing Christmas carols. And it's all free.

Call Wyman Museum at 824-6346 for more details.

Jam out with Taylors Bayou from 9 p.m. to close at the Sports Page Bar at the Holiday Inn of Craig, 300 S. Colorado Highway 13.

It's cover-free, so check it out for some relaxation among the holiday craziness.

Get your craft on some more this holiday season with a craft show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Moffat County High School, 900 Finley Lane.

Proceeds from the event will be used to pay for the cost of MCHS students' trip to Europe this spring.

For more, call Jeff Simon at 826-6596.

Do a good deed by helping a family in need.

A fundraising auction for Chance and Riley Abney is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at the Golden Cavvy Restaurant, 538 Yampa Ave.

The Abneys lost their home during a fire Dec. 2. The auction will help raise money for the family to replace clothes, furniture and other items, as well as to buy Christmas presents.

Experience "From Darkness to Light," a musical program portraying Jesus' birth through His second coming, this weekend.

The free performance is from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Yampa Valley Baptist Church, 3900 E. Victory Way.

Refreshments and free scripture calendars will be available after the program.
